Suryakumar Yadav shares Sachin Tendulkar’s message on his India non-selection

The Indian Premier League is considered as the penultimate step towards national selection. Performing in the IPL, against the world’s best players, proves your mettle to kick on and represent your country. However, for Suryakumar Yadav, it is still a distant dream. His non-selection for the Australia tour is a bitter pill to swallow. The batsman was dejected as expected but then he received a message from Sachin Tendulkar.

“If you are honest and sincere to the game, the game will look after you. This might well be your final hurdle. Your dream of playing for India is around the corner. Stay focused and surrender yourself to cricket. I know you are not one of those who will be disheartened and give it up. Keep going on and give us many more reasons to celebrate,” advised cricket’s biggest legend.

Suryakumar shared these details while speaking to Indian Express. The batsman added that these soothing words from the Master Blaster alleviated his worries and made him refocus on making the most of the opportunities he receives. Suryakumar was extremely disappointed for not being picked for the Australia tour but now the batsman is confident that it will happen sooner rather than later.

In the winning campaign for Mumbai Indians, Suryakumar scored 480 runs in 16 matches while averaging 40 and with a strike rate of 145. This was still his second-best career performance as he had crossed the tally for 500 IPL runs in 2018. Despite scoring runs in crucial situations and against the top bowlers from around the globe, the right-hand batsman was not considered for the Australia tour.
