Suryakumar Yadav – Has the Mumbai batsman cemented his place in India team?
Suryakumar Yadav is one name that is shining the brightest in the context of the Indian cricket team currently. Ever since the man has walked up in the international field, he has justified his selection every bit. It was in the conversation since long as to when the prolific Mumbai batter would wear the Indian blue as the age factor was going a bit against him. However, after getting his rightful chance, he has been showing that he has a lot of cricket left in him.
Yadav rose up the ranks while being terrific for Mumbai where he scored 5326 runs in his 77 first-class games. After making a cut in IPL, he didn’t leave any stone unturned to rise high for Mumbai Indians. Since 2018, the Mumbai batsman has been smashing 400 plus runs consecutively and can only be seen going up and above. The real show unfolded when SKY got his maiden call-up for India’s home series against England.

While everyone expected him to bring good on the table, he took a step ahead and played Jofra Archer for a magnificent six on his very first ball that stunned all. He smashed a fifty in his debut T20I and bagged the player of the match award. Virat Kohli then called him an ‘X-factor’ for his game-changing innings and he later went on to shine in the most recent Sri Lanka tour.
He was unparalleled with the bat and bagged the man of the series award in his debut ODI series. While he was doing wonders on the island nation, selectors were already keen on having a closer look at him. This is why, when replacements had to be called up for the England Tests, he got his call in the whites too. His chances might have come late but the way he grabbed them with both hands is certain to take him places in the future.
As the T20 World Cup is all set to be played this year, the noise around Yadav making a cut there has already levelled up. With Yadav going extremely strong in the middle order, for now, it can be said that the Mumbai Indians batter is sure to find a place in the T20 WC squad of 2021. He might even look forward to strengthening his case for the upcoming ODI World Cup if he goes smashing the same way. For now, it can definitely be said that the time has come for him to rule the national team with his batting masterclass.
