Suresh Raina hints at the possibility of returning to IPL 2020
Chennai Super Kings star batsman Suresh Raina has expressed the possibility of returning to the IPL in his latest interview to Cricbuzz. The recently-retired cricketer left the IPL 2020 citing personal reasons. It was reported that his uncle’s family was attacked in Pathankot. Also, 12 members of the CSK entourage in the UAE were tested positive for coronavirus. It was said to influence the cricketer’s decision. Raina cleared the air around his decision in this interview.
When asked what prompted his decision to not play in this IPL season after reaching the UAE, Raina revealed that it was his personal decision and he had to come back for his family. There were a few issues that he needed to attend immediately on the home front. Raina further clarified that there is no issue between CSK and him. He had a solid reason to turn his back on Rs 12.5 crores and he will be looking forward to playing for them in the IPL for the next 4-5 years.
CSK owner N Srinivasan had criticised Raina’s decision and had added that the cricketer will regret his decision in future. Although Srinivasan has said that his comments were taken out of context, there were still rumours about all not being well between him and the former Indian batsman. Raina revealed that they have chatted and moved over from that issue, insisting that Srinivasan is like a father figure to him.
What happened to my family is Punjab was beyond horrible. My uncle was slaughtered to death, my bua & both my cousins had sever injuries. Unfortunately my cousin also passed away last night after battling for life for days. My bua is still very very critical & is on life support.

Raina after returning to India is serving another quarantine period and is yet to meet his family. He said that he will meet his parents and his uncle’s family once the quarantine is over. When asked if he will return to CSK any time, Raina gave an unclear answer.
“I’ve been training even while quarantining here. You never know you might see me in the camp there again,” Raina said.
