SRH vs DC Review – Delhi hold nerves in Hyderabad to claim their 2nd win
The Indian Premier League 2023 treated fans with another action-packed encounter on Monday, April 24 as Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals were up against each other in Match 34 at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad.
DC Captain David Warner won the toss on his homecoming to Hyderabad and elected to bat first. The decision, however, didn’t prove to be right as Delhi were restricted to 144/9 in the first innings. Manish Pandey (34 off 27) and Axar Patel (34 off 34) were the top scorers for DC with no other batter crossing the 30-run mark. Washington Sundar (3/28) and Bhuvneshwar Kumar (2/11) starred for SRH with the ball and helped their side keep Delhi under 150.
In reply, SRH got off to a steady start in their chase as they were 36/1 after the powerplay. However, they suffered a collapse in the middle and went from 69/1 in 11.2 overs to 85/5 after 14.1 overs. Heinrich Klaasen (31 off 19) and Washington Sundar (24* off 15) tried their best but couldn’t take their team home as SRH could only manage to score 137/6 and lost the match by 7 runs.
Top performers from the match
Mayank Agarwal
Mayank Agarwal was finally seen in some form as he scored 49 off 39 balls with the help of seven fours opening the innings for SRH. After failing to breach the 30-run mark in the first four innings in the tournament, Agarwal has now registered two 40-plus scores in the last three innings.
Washington Sundar
Washington Sundar bowled a brilliant spell of 3/28 in four overs to break the back of Delhi’s batting. He picked up wickets of David Warner, Sarfaraz Khan, and Aman Hakim Khan in his second over and broke DC’s momentum in the first innings.
What’s next for both teams?
After Delhi’s thrilling win tonight, the two teams will once again face each other in their respective next fixtures on Saturday, April 29 at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi.
