Speed comes naturally to me, I am my own role model: Umran Malik
SRH young pacer Umran Malik has become a big talking point in the cricket fraternity due to his ability to produce deliveries in the range of 145-150 kmph on a constant basis. Seeing his finesse and skills, several big cricketers have already stated that the national call is not much far from the 22-year-old express pacer. In a recent interview, Malik added how speed comes naturally to him and that he is doing nothing out of the box to touch that mark.
The young pacer also talked about the importance of Irfan Pathan’s guidance in shaping his skills. The Jammu and Kashmir pacer added that he used to jump a lot earlier, getting away from the right length but with the right advice from the former Indian pacer, he has been targeting just the right areas. Talking of the current IPL season, he has already picked nine wickets in six games so far.
“Speed comes naturally to me. This year I am trying to work on hitting the right areas. I always used to bowl fast. I am my own role model. When Irfan Pathan came to train us, I used to jump out and I was pretty erratic, I was not able to bowl in one area consistently. But when he came, I began to jump out less and I started getting the right rhythm. I just want to make Jammu and Kashmir proud and I want to make the country proud. I just want to perform well,” said Malik while speaking to NDTV.
It is good to see such big legends tweeting about me: Umran Malik
Though Malik added that he has no role model, in particular, he certainly feels that Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar are some of the best bowlers in the world. He also expressed his delightedness at seeing big names tweet about him and his performance.
“I have to perform, when I see cricketers tweeting about me, it was very a proud feeling. It is good to see such big legends tweeting about me, they must have seen something in me, that is why they are tweeting about me. Right now, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar are the best bowlers in the world,” he added.
