SL vs ZIM: Five players to watch out for
Sri Lanka will take on Zimbabwe in a three-match ODI series which will commence on 16th January 2022. The 2nd and 3rd ODI matches of this series are scheduled to be played on 18th January and 21st January 2022. This will be the first international assignment for both these sides in 2022. In this article, let us take a look at the 5 players to watch out for in this series.
5. Blessing Muzarabani
Blessing Muzarabani had a stellar run in 2021 in ODI cricket with the ball in hand. The right-arm pacer took nine wickets in just six matches for the Zimbabwe side in 2021 and took them at an average of just 24.22. Muzarabani will play a pivotal role for the Zimbabwe side in the upcoming series.
4. Pathum Nissanka
Pathum Nissanka has not been in good form in ODI cricket. The right-hander has scores of 0,5,5,6 in his last four innings in ODI cricket and averaged a meagre 9.56 in nine innings in 2021. Therefore, eyes will be on him as Nissanka will be hoping to put his poor form behind him and contribute meaningfully for his side.
3. Charith Asalanka
Charith Asalanka was in good form for the Sri Lankan side in 2021 in ODI cricket. The left-hander scored 326 runs last year, and scored his runs at an average of over 40. Asalanka will be keen to start 2022 on a positive note.
2. Dushmantha Chameera
Dushmantha Chameera was the leading wicket-taker in ODI cricket in the year 2021. The right-arm pacer scalped 20 wickets in 14 matches at an average of under 30. Chameera will play a crucial role for Sri Lanka in their ODI series against Zimbabwe.
1. Sean Williams
Sean Williams has scored 3995 runs in ODI cricket in 139 appearances for Zimbabwe and needs just another five runs to breach the 4000-run mark. And, if he does so, Williams will become only the 7th Zimbabwe batter to score 4000 runs in ODIs.
