SL vs IND: 1st T20I, Stats Review – Bhuvneshwar’s record and more stats
India have registered an emphatic win against Sri Lanka in the first T20I of the three-match series. The hosts were dismissed for 126 runs in 18.3 overs while chasing a target of 165 runs. India posted a total of 164/5 with the help of a fine half-century from Suryakumar Yadav. In the bowling department, Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the most successful bowler for the visitors with 4 wickets for 22 runs. The Indian team will now look to seal the series in the second T20I which will be played on 27th July.

1 – Prithvi Shaw became the youngest Indian batsman to open in all three formats. Before him, KL Rahul opened in all three formats at the age of 24 Years and 62 days.
2 – Shaw was dismissed for a duck on his debut. He is the third Indian after MS Dhoni and KL Rahul to bag a duck on debut in the shortest format.
3 – Charith Asalanka registered the third-highest score for a player on T20I debut against India. Temba Bavuma and Christiaan Jonker are at the joint-top spots with scores of 49 runs each.
4 – Asalanka’s score of 44 was the fourth-highest score for Sri Lanka on T20I debut.
1 – At the age of 35 years and 232 days, Shikhar Dhawan became the oldest Indian cricketer to make the T20I captaincy debut. Before him, Rohit Sharma made his T20I captaincy debut at the age of 30 Years and 234 days against Sri Lanka in 2017. Overall, he is the fourth-oldest among the Full-member countries.
65 – Shikhar Dhawan made his T20I captaincy debut after playing 65 games in the format. Only Rohit Sharma played more matches (68) before leading India for the first time in T20Is.
139 – Suryakumar Yadav has till now scored 139 runs in three T20I innings including 2 fifties. This is the most runs scored by an Indian batsman in the first three T20I innings.
26 – Yuzvendra Chahal has now taken 26 wickets in away T20Is (home of opposition). He surpassed Jasprit Bumrah (25) in this regard.
250 – Bhuvneshwar Kumar completed 250 wickets in international cricket during this match.
2 – Bhuvneshwar Kumar registered second-best bowling figures for an Indian pacer in Sri Lanka. Ashok Dinda is at the first position with figures of 4/19 against Sri Lanka in 2012.
