Sri Lanka managed to record a thrilling win in the third ODI against Afghanistan to avoid a series loss on November 30. Afghanistan started the tour with a big and deserving 60-run victory in the first ODI. Sri Lanka managed to restrict Afghanistan to just 228 runs in the second ODI but the game was washed out due to rain.

In the third ODI, Ibrahim Zadran smashed a big knock to help Afghanistan score a big 313-run total. Sri Lankan batters managed to chase the target in the last over to level the series to 1-1. So, let’s take a look at the top five performers from this thrilling ODI series.

Ibrahim Zadran

The youngster smashed 162 runs off 138 balls in the third match which was Afghanistan’s highest individual score in ODI cricket. He also scored 106 runs in the first match and won the player of the series award for scoring most runs in the series – 278 from three innings at an average of 92.66 and a strike rate of 100.72.

Rashid Khan

The star leg-spinner continues to make a big impact across formats with another stellar performance against Sri Lanka. He took four wickets in the third ODI while conceding just 37 runs from his ten-over spell. Rashid ended the series with the highest five wickets from just two innings at an impressive economy rate of 4.27 for Afghanistan.

Pathum Nissanka

The young Sri Lankan opener scored 85 runs off 83 balls in the first ODI while chasing a big target but it was not enough. Nissanka scored 123 runs from three innings at an average of 61.50 and a strike rate of 84.24 in this series. He was the only Sri Lankan batter to surpass a 100-run mark, which highlights his contribution in this series.

Kasun Rajitha

The experienced pacer took three wickets in the third ODI after bowling his career-best spell in the second match. He took three wickets while conceding just 31 runs in the second game to restrict Afghanistan to just 228 runs. He ended the series as the leading wicket-taker with seven wickets from three innings at an economy rate of 5.06.

Rahmat Shah

Rahmat scored 132 runs from three innings with the help of two fifties in this series. He now leads the scoring chart for Afghanistan in ODIs, surpassing Mohammad Nabi. Rahmat also became the first Afghanistan cricketer to cross the 3000-run mark in ODIs during the first match in this series.
