A glance at Siddharth Kaul’s cricket career
Siddharth Kaul had hogged limelight during the U19 World Cup 2008 when he, under the leadership of Virat Kohli, had won the U19 World Cup for India. Kaul was the highest wicket-taker for India alongside Ravindra Jadeja by taking 10 wickets from 5 games in the marquee event.
However, while Jadeja and Virat Kohli rose through the ranks and went on to make a name for themselves in the cricket fraternity, Kaul succumbed to injuries and went away from the limelight. After a series of good performances in the domestic circuit, Siddharth earned his much-awaited debut for India in a T20I against Ireland in 2018 and returned with the figures of 1/4 in his 2 overs.
Thus far, he has represented India in 3 One Day Internationals and 3 T20Is scalping 0 and 4 wickets respectively at an economy rate of 6.62 and 8.68 respectively. As far as IPL is concerned, he was part of Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) from 2013 to 2014. Since IPL 2016, the 30-year-old has played for Sunrisers Hyderabad. In 46 matches in IPL, Kaul has managed 51 wickets at an economy rate of 8.65 and strike rate of 28.4.
