Shubman Gill names one skill in which he is better than Virat Kohli

Shubman Gill is one of the most promising young cricketers going around and is touted to be the next big thing in Indian cricket. The right-handed batsman has a solid technique and his tendency of pushing opposition on the back foot with aggressive shots makes him one to watch out for. Gill made his Test debut against Australia last year and didn’t fail to make a mark. He returned with scores of 35*, 45, 50 and 91, playing a key role in guiding India to a historic 2-1 triumph Down Under.

Owing to his ability to play attacking but orthodox shots, Gill is often compared with Indian skipper Virat Kohli. In fact, the 21-year-old opener has talked about learning various things from the Indian captain on multiple occasions. With over 22,000 runs under his belt, Kohli is indeed one of the finest batsmen to have ever graced the game and Gill would be determined to replicate his heroics. Recently, however, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) batsman revealed one skill in which he’s better than the talismanic batsman.

In a conversation with ESPNCricinfo, Gill was asked to name one thing which he would like to teach Kohli. He replied, “One thing… FIFA (the video game). I know he’s going to be really pissed but he always loses to me in FIFA.”.

Meanwhile, both Gill and Kohli were last seen in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2021) which got postponed midway due to multiple COVID-19 cases in the bio bubble. Gill wasn’t in the best of form as he scored 132 runs in seven outings for KKR. On the contrary, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain was in decent touch, accumulating 198 runs in seven matches.

Now, the focus has been shifted towards the inaugural ICC World Test Championship final where India will cross swords with New Zealand. The summit clash takes place at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton and will get underway on June 18. Both Gill and Kohli are certain starters in India’s playing XI and the duo would be raring to make a mark.
