Shreevats Goswami takes a dig at BCCI for delayed payment system in FC cricket
The COVID-19 pandemic has indeed taken India by storm. Millions of people have been affected by the virus, while many have even lost their lives. The deadly disease also jolted many families financially, with people facing pay cuts and losing their jobs. Many local cricketers are also suffering from the same problem, with India’s domestic cricket coming to a standstill. While coronavirus impacting cricketers is a new story, Bengal wicketkeeper-batsman Shreevats Goswami revealed an age-old problem in India’s domestic cricket.
Goswami, who’s currently a part of the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad, took to Twitter and highlighted a major problem of local players. The southpaw revealed that players have been receiving late payments even way before the coronavirus crisis came into the picture. He also stated that the intentions of players will be questioned if they raise their voice over this issue.
Shreevats Goswami not amused with the pay system
Never understood the delayed payment system in first class cricket .This is been happening for ages now. We never complain but if we do people think we are arrogant & asking for favours

No domestic cricket matches have been played in India since the conclusion of the Vijay Hazare Trophy in March. Hence, many local cricketers are struggling for money. While those having Indian Premier League (IPL) contracts haven’t suffered much, others players have struggled to meet their needs. Hence, several have gone to different nations to play local leagues and earn money.
The New Indian Express reported that many local players haven’t received payments for the earlier matches, which has jolted the cricketers financially. After coming across the news, Goswami also didn’t hold back and took a dig at the system. Notably, the second strain of the COVID-19 virus had even forced BCCI to suspend IPL 2021 midway. Hence, cricket in India likely to remain halted for quite some time now.
Meanwhile, the national team is gearing up for the ICC World Test Championship final against New Zealand next month. Virat Kohli and Co will fly to England on June 2 and will undergo a 10-day quarantine period upon their arrival. With the summit clash getting underway on June 18, India won’t have much time to get in the groove.
