“I’ve been feeling unwell since Thursday; my body had been aching badly. I’ve been tested and unfortunately I’m covid positive. Need prayers for a speedy recovery,” wrote the former Pakistan captain on his official Twitter handle.
Last month, Afridi had bought a bat owned by Bangladesh’s Mushfiqur Rahim for USD 20,000 in a charity auction for coronavirus victims. The Pakistani all-rounder is the third Pakistan cricketer to test positive for the virus after Taufeeq Umar and Zafar Sarfaraz. Majid Haq from Scotland and Solo Nqweni from South Africa are the other cricketers to have contracted the virus.
