Senior India call-up not far away from Yash Dhull: Vinod Kambli
Former Indian batsman Vinod Kambli has lauded India’s young rising star Yash Dhull and said that the batter will soon represent his country at the highest level. On Thursday (February 17), Dhull made his Ranji Trophy debut for Delhi and scored a brilliant century against Tamil Nadu in their season opener in Guwahati. Dhull’s knock came when Delhi were reeling at 7/2, as the right-handed batter showed composure and scored a magnificent knock of 113 runs from just 150 balls. His century helped Delhi to post a competitive score on board at the end of Day 1 of the match.
Just two weeks after captaining India to clinch their fifth U-19 World Cup title, Dhull was picked for Delhi with the selectors fast-tracking the teenager to the Ranji Trophy squad. Straightaway, he was asked to open the innings alongside Dhruv Shorey. Even though wickets continued to fell around him, the young batter grabbed his opportunity and played every ball on its merit helping his side to gain the upper hand against strong looking Tamil Nadu side.
Writing on KOO app, Kambli said that if Dhull continues to put in such consistent performances, a senior India call-up is not far away from the batter. “Yash Dhull has announced his arrival in the first-class matches in style. Played with great composure to achieve a century , i am sure with consistent domestic performances and a good IPL season, playing for India is on the cards for this young lad. Congratulations Mr. Dhull,” Kambli wrote on KOO.
