Sehwag, Jaffer troll Ricky Ponting for his wrong prediction; Aussie responds
Former Australian skipper and batting legend Ricky Ponting has been subject to some brutal trolling by Virender Sehwag and Wasim Jaffer after the Aussie’s prediction about India’s second innings was proved to be completely wrong. Ponting had emphatically declared on Twitter that India would not even cross 200 runs in the fourth innings.
However, he was made to eat humble pie, as Rishabh Pant and Cheteshwar Pujara put on a match-saving partnership of 148 runs for the fourth wicket. While Pant scored an attacking 97 off just 118 balls, Pujara was as solid as ever, consuming 205 balls to score 77 runs as India comfortably secured a draw, losing just 5 wickets in their second innings.
Before going further, let us look at Ponting’s exact prediction about India’s second innings on Twitter. A Twitter user had asked Ponting as to what would be a good score for Australia to declare, and that is when Ponting had made his prediction that India would not even put on 200 runs on the board and Australia already had a huge total to defend. (Australia had a lead of 310 runs at that time).
310 ahead at the moment, but I honestly think India won’t make 200 in the second innings #AskRicky https://t.co/jLh01HCV7P

Virender Sehwag and Wasim Jaffer roast Ponting
Australia’s highest run-scorer in Tests was subject to some ridicule by two Indian openers- Virender Sehwag and Wasim Jaffer. While Sehwag put out a picture of Pant mockingly looking at Ponting after his incredible counter-attacking innings, Jaffer put out a funny picture on Twitter, stating that the best time to have actually deleted the tweet was immediately after posting it.
Here are the tweets by both Sehwag and Jaffer

Ponting responds
However, Ponting is not the person to back down and take it. The former Australian skipper has responded to the ridicule and said that the pitch had not deteriorated as much as he had thought. He also added that the approach that Rishabh Pant took was the perfect one, where he counter-attacked and played aggressively.
So much for the prediction of India scoring under 200, this pitch hasn’t deteriorated anywhere near what I was expecting. Like the way Rishabh Pant’s playing, it’s the perfect approach to take in these conditions. And now it’s game on #AUSvIND
