Seeing Bumrah-Archer bowl together will be worth the wait: Zaheer Khan

Archer

The Mumbai Indians (MI) acquired England pacer Jofra Archer for a sum of INR 8 Crore in the 2022 IPL mega auction. However, the right arm pacer will not take part in IPL 2022 as he is suffering from an elbow injury.

And now, the owner of the Mumbai Indians (MI), Akash Ambani said that they tried to bid for other fast bowlers, but all were snaffled by other teams. Adding that the plan was firm to get Archer, Ambani also said that the five-time IPL champions took all the considerations regarding the demand for pacers and then bought Archer.

Ambani also said that even though Archer is not available for IPL 2022, he will form a formidable partnership with Jasprit Bumrah when he returns back to action.

“We bid for all fast bowlers before Jofra but were priced out. The plans firmed up last night and it was not that we were setting aside the budget. We discussed him pre-auction but the plan was firmed up last night. We took all those considerations in after what the fast bowlers went for yesterday. He is not available this year but when he is fit and available we believe he will make a formidable partnership with [Jasprit] Bumrah,” said Ambani after the conclusion of the auction.

I am eagerly waiting for the Bumrah-Archer partnership: Zaheer Khan

Also, the Director of Cricket Operations of the Mumbai Indians (MI), Zaheer Khan said that he is eagerly waiting for the Bumrah-Archer partnership. Khan concluded by stating that the wait will surely be a worthy one when the two legendary fast bowlers work in tandem for the Mumbai side in the IPL.

“You are eagerly waiting for the partnership to go on the field and so am I. To see two legendary fast bowlers bowling in tandem and I’m glad that it seems possible and will be worth the wait,” concluded Zaheer Khan.

Mumbai Indians’ most expensive buy of the 2022 IPL mega auction was Ishan Kishan, with the Rohit Sharma-led outfit spending a colossal sum of INR 15.25 Crore to procure the left-hander.
