Sanjay Manjrekar trolls himself on Twitter; Ravi Ashwin responds

Sanjay Manjrekar

More often than not, Sanjay Manjrekar trends on social media for the wrong reasons. The former India batsman has a knack for coming up with controversial statements and unsurprisingly, he faces criticism every now and then. Just a few months ago, he was sacked by the BCCI from its commentary panel with reports suggesting that the board was unhappy with his on-air remarks.

Recently, he faced criticism for his comments against Indian allrounders Ravindra Jadeja and Hardik Pandya. The former cricketer-turned-commentator had surprisingly said that neither of the two would get a chance in his limited-overs teams. Explaining the reason behind it, he had said that neither Pandya nor Jadeja are specialists in either batting or bowling.

But it did not take Pandya and Jadeja long to prove Manjrekar wrong. Both the all-rounders impressed with their batting in the recently-concluded ODI series against Australia. Pandya scored two fifties while Jadeja scored one in the three-match series. And it was enough for the fans to have some fun at Manjrekar’s expense once again.

Manjrekar leaves Ravi Ashwin in splits

For a change, Sanjay Manjrekar has managed to leave everyone including India ace Ravichandran Ashwin in splits with his tweet. On Saturday, he took to Twitter to post a picture of himself and Australian great Glenn McGrath with a hilarious caption.

Going by the reactions, one can say that Manjrekar did manage to make everyone laugh and Ashwin decided to acknowledge it. The off-spinner re-tweeted the tweet and wrote: “Dead”, following by laughing emojis.

Meanwhile, Ashwin will be seen in action soon when India A lock horns against Australia A during the three-day practice game, starting on Sunday (December 6). The veteran spinner is not a part of India’s limited-overs squad but is a part of the Test squad. The four-match Test series is scheduled to start on December 17 in Adelaide.
