Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman and Yuvraj Singh revive desert storm memories
For Indian cricket fans, Sharjah remains an eternal reminder of one of the greatest limited-overs cricket knock ever played. In the last two encounters of the Coca Cola Tri-series, Sachin Tendulkar single-handedly launched an onslaught of ferocious strokes against the Australian bowling line-up. His knocks of 143 and 134 serve as an example of the epitome of batting.
In the match before the final, India needed to push their net run rate to a certain extent to ensure their participation in the final against Australia. Batting first, Australia posted 284 runs on the board. India’s chase was disrupted by a desert storm which halted the play for a while. The revised target proved to be stiffer for India.
However, Tendulkar dismantled the five-man bowling attack of Australia that consisted of Michael Kasprowicz, Damien Fleming, Shane Warne, Tom Moody and Steve Waugh to take India in the final. The knock of 143 lasted 131 balls included nine fours and five sixes. He struck 134 in the final in a similar fashion and won the tri-series for India.

VVS Laxman, who also played for India in that tri-series, revived the memories of that knock. The Hyderabad batsman is currently in the UAE for IPL as a part of the Sunrisers Hyderabad. He tweeted the following from the ground.
Coming back to Sharjah after a long time. Whenever I walk on this field memories of those two special 100s from @sachin_rt comes back to my mind, rushing like a #desertstorm pic.twitter.com/HJajtKmBR1

To this, Tendulkar replied in his own cheeky manner.
Still remember both those games like they happened just yesterday.
And do you remember how we almost got blown away by that desert storm??
