Sachin Tendulkar takes fans down memory lane with two fours against SA Legends
India Legends and South Africa Legends kicked off the 2022 Road Safety T20 World Series at Green Park in Kanpur on Saturday. Sachin Tendulkar, India Legends’ captain, opened the innings with Naman Ojha to take the fans down to the memory lane. Tendulkar scored 16 runs off 15 balls before getting caught out on Makhaya Ntini’s delivery in the sixth over. But he smashed two boundaries to offer some treat for the Indian fans.
The 49-year-old batter is already trending on social media on his return to the cricket pitch. Sachin guided India Legends to glory in the first edition of the tournament by scoring the third-highest 233 runs in seven matches at an average of 38.83 and a strike rate of 138.69. He also smashed two fifties, including a 65-run knock against West Indies Legends in the semi-final clash.
Sachin continued that momentum against South Africa Legends on Saturday but was unfortunate to not score a big knock. He smashed his first four on the long-on with an aerial shot and smashed the second four to long-off to give something to his fans to cheer off.
Stuart Binny and Yusuf Pathan help India to score a big total
Sachin walked off the pitch after getting caught out in the sixth over but not before giving India a good start. South Africa looked to have gained control of the match by removing Ojha in the next over but Suresh Raina and all-rounder Stuart Binny continued that good start by forming a big 64-run partnership for the third wicket.
Raina scored 33 runs off 22 balls with the help of four fours and a six before getting caught out on Eddie Leie’s delivery in the 13th over. Yuvraj Singh also departed soon after scoring six runs off eight balls. But Binny played attacking cricket and smashed unbeaten 82 runs off just 42 balls. Yusuf Pathan played an excellent knock off unbeaten 35 runs off just 15 balls, including two sixes in the last over, to guide India to a big total of 217/4 in 20 overs.
