Sachin Tendulkar reveals who Ollie Pope reminds him of
Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar is keenly focussed on every bit of cricketing action that takes place. England’s 22-year old batsman Ollie Pope hogged the limelight on the opening day of the third Test at Manchester with a solid knock. And the Indian batting maestro was watching the play intently. He sent out a tweet from his official account which compared Pope with the former England batsman Ian Bell.
Been watching the 3rd Test, @OPope32 seems to have modeled his batting on @Ian_Bell.
His stance and footwork looks exactly the same to me. #ENGvWI pic.twitter.com/sEvNKr1YFZ— Sachin Tendulkar (@sachin_rt) July 24, 2020
England lost their top-order for not too many when Pope came out to bat. The youngster played with controlled aggression in his 140-run partnership with Jos Buttler. He was eventually dismissed by Shannon Gabriel for 91. He was highly praised by the English media for his composure during the delicate situation.
Ian Bell, who has scored more than 13,000 runs in international cricket for England, responded to Tendulkar’s observation with great respect.
Who am I to argue with the great man, @sachin_rt! ?
Hopefully @OPope32 can kick on and score a big hundred today! https://t.co/iWQmdgkpjS— Ian Bell (@Ian_Bell) July 25, 2020
