Sachin Tendulkar named among 50 most influential people on Twitter
Be it the 22 yards of a cricket pitch or the 280-character limit on Twitter, the Master Blaster has come up with flying numbers in both. According to annual research carried out by consumer intelligence company Brandwatch, Sachin Tendulkar is among the 50 most influential people on Twitter. To date, Tendulkar has tweeted more than 4,000 times and has more than 36.2 million followers on the micro-blogging site.
The research has cited Tendulkar’s ‘appreciable real work for the less fortunate, lending his voice and presence for the right causes, his inspired fans following his work and his partner brands’ relevant impactful campaigns’ for his inclusion in the list.
American singer Taylor Swift leads the list at number 1 spot while the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is placed in the second position. The Indian batting maestro is ranked 35 on the global list and is ahead of the likes of Dwayne Johnson and Leonardo Di Caprio. Tendulkar, a former Rajya Sabha MP, has been associated with UNICEF for more than 10 years and was also appointed as the ambassador for South Asia in 2013.
Tendulkar has actively used the social media platform to spread awareness and reach out to as many people as possible. His tremendous reach among the community has helped many of the causes that he has stood for. Apart from cultivating sporting foundations in schools, he has also looked after childcare both in urban and rural India. During the COVID-pandemic, he played an active role in supporting the needy with generous donations and timely initiatives.
Ruling the field of cricket, no batter has yet come close to Tendulkar’s tally in international cricket. The Indian legend struck 100 memorable international centuries, a record that stands the test of time. He has also scored more runs than anyone else in both Tests and ODIs. The magic of Master Blaster continues to enthral his fans all around the globe.
