Sachin Tendulkar in awe of Sheldon Jackson’s lightning-fast stumping in season opener
During the opening fixture of IPL 2022 between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders, Sheldon Jackson, the wicketkeeper for KKR, helped dismiss Robin Uthappa as he was stumped off a wide. Uthappa stepped out to face Varun Chakravarthy’s delivery but couldn’t connect it with the bat.
As a result, Jackson snaffled it quickly and whipped the bails off at the speed of light, and put the Super Kings under serious trouble as they lost their third wicket in just eight overs. Just prior to the stumping, Varun missed out on Ambati Rayudu’s wicket in his previous over as the ball hit the stump but the bails didn’t fall off and as a result, Rayudu survived.
Reacting to the dismissal, Sachin Tendulkar took to his Twitter to praise the brilliant piece of work by Jackson. Calling the work “outstanding”, Tendulkar said that the stumping reminded him of the legendary MS Dhoni.
Sheldon Jackson represents Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2022
Sachin’s appreciation is one of the biggest that a wicketkeeper could receive as Dhoni was the best wicketkeeper of all time for Team India, as well as CSK. He is known for his quick stumping in the blink of an eye.
Sheldon Jackson, 35, hasn’t represented India in any international matches. He plays for Saurashtra in the domestic games and keeps the wickets for his team. His performance in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy has been very impressive in the recent past. In his past 11 matches, he smashed 513 runs at a strike rate of 147.83.
He has not had a proper stint in the IPL earlier. He was a part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore squad in 2013 but did not get an opportunity to play for his side. He has been with KKR for a few years but has played only five IPL matches so far in his career.
