SA vs IND: Jofra Archer’s eight-year-old tweet resurfaces after Kohli’s dismissal

English pace bowler Jofra Archer is known for his older tweets that resonate with the current situations. His tweets have gone viral on several occasions and the same happened on January 11 when Virat Kohli failed to score a century in the ongoing third Test against South Africa. Earlier, Kohli won the toss and elected to bat.

Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul opened the innings for India and they both struggled to score runs initially. The South African bowlers set a perfect trap for both the openers and they perished. Duanne Olivier dismissed Rahul for 12 runs while Kagiso Rabada picked the wicket of Mayank. Kohli walked in after Mayank’s dismissal and joined Cheteshwar Pujara in the middle.

Pujara and Kohli added 62 runs for the fourth wicket before Marco Jansen dismissed the former for 43 runs off 77 balls. The Indian batting unit repeated the same story that has been going around since the first Test. India lost wickets in bunches but Kohli kept looking for runs. Fans also saw a glimpse of vintage Kohli as the Indian captain played his signature cover drives. Kohli even hit a six off Rabada’s bowling which was only the second six hit by him in the last 29 innings.

Kohli nicked the third ball of the 73rd over and his innings of 79 runs off 201 deliveries came to an end after wicketkeeper Kyle Verreynne completed the catch. He was looking in great touch but due to the lack of partners, on the other hand, he had to play shots that could earn some crucial runs for the team. Once Kohli was dismissed, Archer’s old tweet came into the picture and has gone viral. On December 1, 2013, Archer wrote this on Twitter:

“Got to score a ton somehow”
