SA vs IND: 3 players who might get dropped from their teams
South Africa emerged on top in the three-match Test series against the Indian side. In a series where the fortunes swung wildly, the Proteas beat the Virat Kohli led outfit by a margin of 2-1. There were also a few players who endured a poor run in the Test series and might be dropped from their respective Test sides after this three-Test rubber. In this article, let us take a look at three such players.
3. Aiden Markram
Aiden Markram struggled to get going in the Test series against India. In the six innings that he played in the series, the right-hander could aggregate just 76 runs. Markram scored below 20 in five out of the six innings, and after his poor run, the 27-year-old might be dropped from the South African Test side.
2. Ajinkya Rahane
Even before the South African series started, there were talks about Ajinkya Rahane’s poor form. And, Rahane produced a mediocre performance. He scored 136 runs at an average of under 25 in six innings. Also, Rahane recorded three single-digit scores in this series. Rahane had also endured a poor run in the whole of 2021 and had not scored a single century last year. India might bite the bullet and drop Rahane from their Test side.
1. Cheteshwar Pujara
Another player who might be axed from the Indian side after the Test series against South Africa is Cheteshwar Pujara. Pujara could score just 124 runs in the six innings that he played in the series, and scored his runs at an average of 20.67. Pujara also scored below 20 on four occasions. The veteran batter has now gone three years without a single Test hundred, and India might drop Pujara from their Test side going forward.
