SA vs ENG: 1st ODI postponed after a COVID-19 positive case amongst players
The first ODI between South Africa and England which was supposed to take place today (04th December, Friday) in Cape Town, has been postponed to Sunday (6th December). The fixture has been rescheduled after one of the South African cricketers tested positive for coronavirus. The teams had recently completed a 3-match T20I series.

Cricket South Africa’s statement
Cricket South Africa, playing hosts for this series, tweeted out the development.
“Cricket South Africa and ECB cricket confirm the postponement of the first #BetwayODI of the three-match series to Sunday, 06 December 2020.”
“This decision results from a player from the Proteas team testing positive for COVID-19 after the teams’ last round of scheduled testing performed on Thursday ahead of the #BetwayODI series.”
“In the interests of the safety and well-being of both teams, match officials, and all involved in the match, the Acting CEO of CSA, Kugandrie Govender as well as the CEO of the ECB, Tom Harrison, have agreed to postpone the first fixture to Sunday.”
The name of the player tested positive is not yet revealed. More details on the further procedure are awaited.
