South Africa emerged as the winners of the Test series against Bangladesh after their magnificent victory in both matches. The hosts did not give away the slightest chance for the visitors to dream big and had the baton from the first day. Despite most of the key players missing out on the side due to the Indian Premier League, the Proteas managed to seal the deal by 2-0.
South Africa’s performance amazed one and all. Be it Dean Elgar’s consistent performance with the bat throughout the series, or Keshav Maharaj’s spell with the ball in the two games. Bangladesh was outcasted in both the meetings as South Africa won the first game by 220 runs, followed by a thumping 332-run victory in the second.

Dean Elgar: The South African skipper was terrific with the bat in both matches. He scored 227 runs in the two games combined and accounted for three half-centuries in the four innings. He played the captain’s knock and led his team from the front. His highest score came in the second game when he smashed 70 runs in 89 balls.
Keshav Maharaj:
The spinner was outstanding throughout the series. He picked up a seven-wicket haul in both Tests and was the reason behind the visitors falling for 53 runs and 80 runs in the second innings of both Tests respectively. He also scored 84 (95) in the second Test to up his game. He was deservedly adjudged as the player of the series.
Simon Harmer: The right-arm off-break bowler picked up seven wickets in the first Test, followed by six in the second. His bowling strategies, accompanied by Maharaj’s web, in the games helped to break the visitors’ line-up.
Mehidy Hasan: The bowling all-rounder added six wickets to his scalp in the first Test, followed by three in the second to take his tally to nine overall. He also gave his best with the bat, but his top performance came with the ball.
Mahmudul Hasan Joy: The Bangladeshi opener was dismissed for a poor score in the second Test, but his best knock came in the first innings of the first Test when he scored a 326-ball 137, staying till the end of the game to help his side reach 298. He also became the first Bangladesh batter to score a ton in South Africa.
