Ruturaj Gaikwad returns home to a rousing welcome after winning IPL 2021 with CSK

Ruturaj Gaikwad

Ruturaj Gaikwad’s stunning batting class throughout the IPL 2021 became the highlight of the Chennai Super Kings’ setup as well. His early-on firing with experienced Faf du Plessis set the tone for the yellow army always whether they were chasing or posting the target. After pushing CSK to their fourth title on October 15, 2021, Gaikwad has returned to his homeland and his welcome ceremonies appear to be grand.

As soon as Gaikwad returned to his homeland Maharashtra, he received a rousing welcome in a traditional manner. A lot of people gathered around his home along with media and photographers and he was well-received as soon as he moved out of his car. The video of the same was shared by the Chennai Super Kings’ official IG handle.

Ruturaj Gaikwad returned home as a mighty Orange Cap winner

Talking of Gaikwad’s dreamy season, he went on to smash 635 runs across IPL 2021 and returned home as a mighty Orange Cap winner. His 635 runs in the season (16 games) had four half-centuries and one century. He remained adamant about taking CSK to brilliant starts on every single occasion and gave bowlers a tough time in every game.

Scoring runs at an average of 45.35 and striking at an impressive 136.26, Gaikwad was perfect in his role as an opener. If fans followed his journey religiously, his signs of doing great for the yellow army were getting visible towards the end of the IPL 2020 season only. Though the 2020 season was a forgettable one for CSK, they went on to win their last three league games in a row, and Gaikwad was the one who smashed crucial fifties in all those three games.

“It is top of the moon feeling to win the orange cap and win the IPL. It is very very satisfying to win the IPL. It feels great. We didn’t have a great season. Coming here, everyone believed and we are here. When you are performing well, you are confident in your lesser risk shots. You need to make sure you are there till the end,” said Gaikwad after winning the Orange Cap on the final night.
