RR vs RCB Review – Bangalore shoot up their run-rate with huge victory
Royal Challengers Bangalore hammered Rajasthan Royals by 112 runs on Sunday, May 14 at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur, and kept their playoff hopes alive with the win. RCB’s batting innings was not ideal, but the bowlers made up for it as RR’s batting unit fell like a pack of cards.
After opting to bat first, RCB posted a decent score of 171/5 in their allotted 20 overs, riding on half-centuries from Faf du Plessis (55 off 44) and Glenn Maxwell (54 off 33). In reply, Rajasthan were bundled out for just 59 in 10.3 overs as Wayne Parnell (3/10, 3 overs), Michael Bracewell (2/16, 3 overs), and Karn Sharma (2/19, 1.3 overs) annihilated their batting line up.
Earlier in the match, RCB got off to a decent start as openers Virat Kohli (18 off 19) and du Plessis added 50 runs for the first wicket off 42 balls. After Kohli’s dismissal, du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell took the innings forward with their 69-run stand. After their partnership ended with du Plessis’ wicket, RCB lost three wickets quickly. A great finish by Anuj Rawat (29 off 11) helped RCB finish their innings on 171/5.
In the second innings, RCB got the big fish in the very first over as Mohammed Siraj dismissed Yashasvi Jaiswal for a duck. In the second over, Wayne Parnell dismissed Jos Buttler (0 off 2) and Sanju Samson (4 off 5) in the second over to break the back of RR’s batting. They were further reduced to 31/6 after seven overs as Michael Bracewell also picked up two wickets.
Shimron Hetmyer (35 off 19) played a good knock to keep his side in the hunt, however, his dismissal in the tenth over ended all hopes of Rajasthan. As a result, they were bundled out for 59 handing a 112-run win to RCB.
