RR vs RCB Preview – Bangalore eye two in two at Jaipur
Rajasthan Royals will be hosting Royal Challengers Bangalore at Sawai Mansingh Stadium on May 14 in the 60th match of IPL 2023. Notably, neither of the teams can afford to drop any more points at the moment as the Sanju Samson-led side is currently third on the IPL points table while Bangalore are seventh
Meanwhile, in their last match against Mumbai Indians, the Faf du Plessis-led side suffered a six-wicket defeat as the five-time champions easily chased 200 runs on their home turf. Thus, bowling remains a massive concern for them at the moment while batters will have to step up as well. Virat Kohli, du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell are in tremendous form but the same cannot be said about others. Thus, overall, there is a lot of room for improvement at the moment.
Rajasthan, meanwhile, will be coming after a terrific win over Kolkata Knight Riders. Yashasvi Jaiswal wreaked havoc in the last match and if he keeps up with the form, RCB bowlers may have a very rough night. Skipper Sanju Samson too is doing well but the concern will be their middle order, which has not looked sharp recently.
Pitch and Conditions
The surface at the Sawai Mansingh stadium is expected to favour the batters and bowling first will be ideal. Dew may play a part in the latter half and the team batting first will need to score at least 200 runs to keep themselves in the game.
Venue details: Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur
Last T20 match at the venue: RR- 214/2 (20 overs) SRH- 217/6 (20 overs)
Here’s the probable playing XI for Rajasthan Royals vs Royal Challengers Bangalore:
Rajasthan Royals
Rajasthan are unlikely to make any changes to their playing XI. Bowling looks more or less sorted with Yuzvendra Chahal leading the attack.
Royal Challengers Bangalore
The RCB middle order is a massive concern and bowling has looked pale in the last couple of matches. The team may consider bringing Shahbaz Ahmed back into the mix but looks unlikely at the moment.
