RR vs GT Review – Gujarat solidify their position at the top
Gujarat Titans defeated Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Indoor Stadium in Jaipur on Friday, May 5. Batting first, the hosts managed to post only 118 runs on the board in the first innings, and the defending champions chased it with ease as they won the game by nine wickets.
Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Rajasthan’s batting order collapsed under the relentless attack of the Gujarat bowlers. Jos Buttler’s slump in form continued, as the star batter was dismissed for eight runs in six deliveries. Furthermore, the in-form Yashasvi Jaiswal ran himself out for just 14 runs. Skipper Sanju Samson looked to be in good touch, but he too was sent back to the pavilion after having scored 30 runs.
Gujarat Titans put in a fabulous performance with the ball, Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmad in particular. Rashid bowled four overs in the game, where he conceded just 14 runs and took three wickets. On the other hand, Noor Ahmad took two wickets and conceded 25 runs in three overs. Furthermore, Mohammed Shami, Hardik Pandya, and Joshua Little took one wicket each.
During the run chase, the batting lineup of Gujarat dominated Rajasthan. Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill laid a strong foundation for the opening stand. Gill amassed 36 runs in 35 deliveries before he was dismissed by Yuzvendra Chahal. After the first wicket, Saha and skipper Hardik Pandya propelled the side to an emphatic victory.
