RR vs CSK Preview – Rajasthan seek to stop high-flying Chennai
Rajasthan Royals will host the Chennai Super Kings in their next fixture of the Indian Premier League 2023 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on April 27, Thursday in the 37th game of the tournament. While the MS Dhoni-led CSK are backed with three wins in a row, the Sanju Samson-led side will be coming off two consecutive losses and would aim to get back on the winning track.
This will be the second encounter between CSK and RR this season. Chennai hosted Rajasthan in the 17th match of the tournament at the M A Chidambaram Stadium, and the Men in Pink emerged victorious as they clinched a thrilling three-run win. Chennai came very close to a win as skipper MS Dhoni showed a glimpse of his vintage self, but Sandeep Sharma’s final-over tactics led to the home side losing.
As for their current form, the Royals faced RCB in their last game and lost the contest and hence would be gunning for a win. Even after losing their previous game, they retained their No. 1 spot in the points table before CSK eventually dethroned them by winning their fixture against Kolkata on April 23, Sunday. Thus, it’ll be a fight for the top position in the points table when the two heavyweights clash.
Pitch and conditions
The surface at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium assists both the batters and bowlers. It is not a high-scoring venue ideally, and the previous game saw the fast bowlers getting an advantage over the spinners.
Venue details: Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur
Last T20 match at the venue: LSG- 154/7 (20 overs) | RR- 144/6 (20 overs)
Probable playing XI for Rajasthan Royals vs Chennai Super Kings clash:
Rajasthan Royals
Rajasthan Royals lost two games in a row and will be desperate for a victory. They have played only one game on their home ground in Jaipur so far and things did not go in their favor. But they recently defeated CSK and would be hoping to repeat similar heroics.
Chennai Super Kings
The four-time champions have finally found a winning combination and it is unlikely that skipper MS Dhoni makes any changes to the XI. The side has won three games on the trot and having lost their previous contest against Rajasthan, the Men in Yellow will be aiming to level it.
