Rohit Sharma shows his determination to reach new heights
On this day (December 13), three years ago, India’s limited-overs vice-captain Rohit Sharma hammered an unbeaten 208, his third ODI double century, against Sri Lanka at PCA-IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali. He is the only batsman in the cricket fraternity to achieve the remarkable feat of scoring three double centuries in One Day cricket.
Rohit had slammed his first 200+ score in 2013 while playing against Australia in Bengaluru. This was followed by the opener scoring his highest ODI score, 264 against Sri Lanka in Kolkata in 2014. His last ODI double hundred was in 2017 which was also his first score of 100-plus as an ODI skipper. Since 2017, the Indian cricket fans are eager to witness another stunning 200+ score from the Hitman.
On the third anniversary of his third ODI double hundred, the Mumbai Indians skipper promised his fans that he would be producing more spectacular 200+ knocks from his bat in the near future.
To celebrate Rohit’s 208-run score against Sri Lanka, the official Twitter handle of Star Sports had tweeted, “#OnThisDay in 2017: Sharmaji ka beta aced a test which would be out-of-syllabus for most people – a 3rd 200 in ODIs for Rohit ‘Hitman’ Sharma” Taking note of this tweet, the Indian opening batsman was quick to react saying, “More to come.”
