Rohit Sharma opens up on missing out on rescheduled Test

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, who was ruled out of the recently concluded Test match against England, admitted that it was difficult for him to watch the match and not be a part of the team while he was recovering from the virus. Sharma was to lead the Indian team in the Test match but had to isolate himself after testing positive for the Covid-19 virus.

In his absence, the team was led by Jasprit Bumrah and he did a wonderful job by managing the captaincy pressure and his performance with the ball as well as with the bat. It was not the dream start to his captaincy stint as India faced a disappointing loss at Edgbaston on Tuesday after England chased down the target of 378 runs with sheer ease.

“It was hard to watch from the sidelines. It’s never an easy situation when you miss games, especially an important game like that when the series was on the line for us. Speaking of symptoms, I struggled a little bit for a couple of days, but I am happy that I am standing back on my feet, nice and healthy as I look forward to the T20I series followed by the ODI series,” Sharma was quoted as saying by India Today.

Rohit Sharma will be leading India in the white-ball series against England

Sharma has missed many games ever since he was appointed the captain of the side. His form in the IPL slumped notably, and he was rested for the South Africa home series which started a short while post the conclusion of the IPL. He will next be seen leading the team in the upcoming white-ball series against England that comprises three T20Is and as many ODIs.

Speaking of missing out on games, the BCCI announced India’s squad for the three-match ODI series against the West Indies that is scheduled to be played later this month and Rohit has been rested, yet again. India will have its seventh captain since the start of 2022 as Shikhar Dhawan will be leading the team. Rohit has not played an international match since March this year and was also not at his best form during the IPL, it is going to be a task for him to get back into his game.
