Rohit Sharma Fan Club starts a fund raiser to support healthcare sector
Rohit Sharma is one of the most followed cricketers in India and has a massive fan following world wide. The cricketer is currently the vice-captain of team India in the limited-overs formats and has led the Mumbai Indians (MI) to five titles in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Understandably, there are a lot of fans who adore him for his immense talent.
Rohit turned 34 on April 30 and definitely, his fans must have celebrated his birthday in different ways. But one of his fan clubs named, Rohit Sharma Fan Club, started a fundraiser to help the needy people amidst the surge in COVID-19 cases in India. On the occasion of Rohit’s birthday, they decided to support the healthcare sector which is already under a lot of pressure.
India is currently witnessing a lot of shortage of oxygen with the country witnessing 4 lakh cases on April 30 and the fatality rate has also increased. A lot of celebrities and cricketers have already come forward to donate and help India during these tough times and this gesture from the fan club is very kind.
“As our country battles through the second wave of the coronavirus, we the fans of Rohit Sharma have started this fundraiser to support the healthcare sector which is facing acute shortage of oxygen. As Rohit turns 34 on 30th April this year, we as his fans think of it as a fitting occasion to celebrate his birthday by contributing in our own small way. Pat Cummins and other prominent cricketers come forward
Meanwhile, among cricketers, Pat Cummins was the first one to come forward to donate $50,000 to the PM CARES Fund. The likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Brett Lee, Shikhar Dhawan, Sheldon Jackson and Shreevats Goswami among others have donated to the cause in different ways. Ajinkya Rahane was the latest to join the list even as India is hoping to end the aucte shortage of oxygen in the country.
