Rohit Sharma analyses IPL 2022 dry run
Rohit Sharma had a forgettable IPL 2022 campaign with both the bat and as a captain as the Mumbai Indians finished at the bottom of the points table with just four wins from 14 matches. At the same time, this was also the second successive season where Mumbai failed to make it into the playoffs.
Analysing his inconsistent performances, Rohit said that he needs to make minor adjustments in his batting to regain his form. The MI skipper mentioned that he has been through this phase before as well and that he just needs to take care of the mental aspect of the game.
This has happened with me earlier as well: Rohit Sharma
“A lot of things that I wanted to do didn’t happen. But this has happened with me earlier as well, so it’s not something I am going through for the first time. … I need to take care of the mental aspect and think about how I can return to form and perform”, said Rohit Sharma after the Mumbai Indians’ five-wicket win over the Delhi Capitals at the Wankhede Stadium.
The ‘Hitman’ could manage just 248 runs from 14 games at an average of 19.14 and failed to register even a single half-century this season, which is also the first time that he could not score a half-century in an IPL edition. While the elegant opener did get off to good starts, he failed to convert them into impactful knocks.
He would now be focusing on national duties but is likely to be rested for the upcoming five-match home T20I series against South Africa, starting June 9. India have a packed calendar in the second half of this year with two major tournaments Asia Cup (August-September) and T20 World Cup in Australia (October-November) respectively.
As per reports, senior opener Shikhar Dhawan or star all-rounder Hardik Pandya is expected to lead the Men in Blue for the five-match series at home against the Proteas.
