Rohit-Babar share heartwarming moment ahead of T20 WC

Team India skipper Rohit Sharma talked about the upcoming game against Pakistan in the 2022 T20 World Cup in the press conference held a day before commencement of the mega event in Australia which was attended by all 16 skippers. Rohit said that the players understand the importance of the match, but there’s no point in creating pressure.

The Indian skipper also revealed what players from both countries talk about when they participate in global tournaments and competitions. He also said that the senior team members have always told them to talk and indulge with Pakistani players. In the same conversation, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam also expresses his views about Rohit Sharma as skipper and things he gets to learn from him.

There’s no point in just talking about it all the time and creating pressure on yourself: Rohit Sharma on clash with Pakistan

While being asked on India-Pakistan clash, Babar began by quoting Rohit as his senior and he tries to learn as much from his skills and experience. “Ye (Rohit) bade hai mujhse, main koshish karta hu inse experience lu kyuki inhone itna serve kia hua hai toh jitni zyada sikhi jay wo accha hai hamare lie. (Rohit Sharma is older than me. I try to take as much experience as possible from him as he has been playing for a long time)” said Babar.

“We Understand the importance of the game, but there’s no point in just talking about it all the time and creating pressure on yourself. Whenever we meet (members of the two teams), like recently we did during the Asia Cup before meeting here in Australia, we ask each other ‘How are things at home?’, ‘How’s the family?’ and all that. Whenever I meet players from Pakistan, this is what we usually talk about,” Rohit said in a press conference.

“The previous generation players, our seniors, who have played before us have also told us to keep talking and indulging. We talk about our homes, and our lives, like which new car have purchased, or which new car are you going to purchase (laughs). That is what we talk about,” he added.

Talking about both teams’ preparations for the upcoming T20 competition, team India recently played its second warm-up game against Western Australia XI and lost it. Pakistan on the other hand must be filled with confidence after they defeated the home team New Zealand in the final match of a tri-series with Bangladesh being the third participant.

As mentioned above, the Men in Blue will take on Pakistan in both teams’ tournament opener to be played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on October 23 (Sunday). Both teams will look to win the first game to have a perfect start for the T20 World Cup.
