Robin Peterson’s hilarious take after Broad concedes 35 runs in an over
Former South African spinner Robin Peterson has reacted after Stuart Broad broke his most expensive over in Test cricket record. The English veteran conceded 35 runs against India on day two of the ongoing fifth Test match. Indian stand-in skipper Jasprit Bumrah took on the pacer and handed an unwanted record.
Bumrah, playing in the number ten position, smashed a four on the first ball of Broad’s 18th over. The pacer bowled a wide on the second ball for five runs and Bumrah hit a six which came from a top-edge of his bat on the next ball which was given a no-ball. Bumrah then hit three boundaries to equal a record for the most runs in an over, with amazingly two balls remaining. The Indian pacer hit another six on the fifth ball and finished the over with a single.
West Indies legend Brian Lara had scored 28 runs against Peterson in a Test match in 2003. He smashed four fours and two sixes in that over but his team lost the match against South Africa. Now Peterson has joked about his record being broken and hilariously said that he is sad to lose his record to Stuart Broad today.
“Sad to lose my record today, oh well, records are made to be broken I guess. Onto the next one,” Peterson tweeted. He also replied to one comment that it took only 19 years to break this record. “Only took 19 years Cricket is a patience game I’m told” he added.
India are in control against England in the fifth match
The Indian side made a great comeback after stumbling to 98 for five and went on to score 416 runs in their first inning. The wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant scored 146 runs off just 111 balls and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja scored 104 runs. Bumrah remained unbeaten on 31 runs off 16 balls with veteran James Anderson taking five wickets. England will now have to bat well in order to take lead in the first innings with well over three days left in the match.
