Road Safety World Series 2021: All you need to know about India Legends

The inaugural edition of the Road Safety World Series which had got cast off because of the Covid-19 outbreak is now finally set to resume and complete its course. The T20 tournament is an initiative taken by the Roady Safety Cell of Maharashtra will now be played in Raipur, commencing from March 5th. The event which features some of the colossal names of the game will now welcome England Legends as an extra team alongside the Bangladesh Legends who would be replacing the Australian team in this competition.

In terms of the Indian Legends squad, its a 13-member crew involving a prominent list of players in the form of Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, Mohammed Kaif, Yusuf Pathan, Naman Ojha, Pragyan Ojha, Noel David, Munaf Patel, Irfan Pathan, Manpreet Gony, Vinay Kumar, S Badrinath.

Batsmen

While the fans now will once again be able to witness the vintage pair of Sachin & Sehwag opening the innings, the middle-order, on the other hand, equally reciprocates by having the duo of Yuvraj and Mohammad Kaif in the middle. The top three (Sehwag, Sachin and Kaif), in their two games being played earlier, had an impressive outing and hopefully will serve as a vital cog in this department along with the impassioned batting of Yuvraj Singh. If there is a collapse, there is a crisis man in S Badrinath who did a similar job for CSK in the IPL. To complement the stars and to add more explosiveness, the India Legends also now have the added bolstering of Yusuf Pathan and the wicket-keeper batsman Naman Ojha. Other than these players, the lower order will also enjoy the secondary (batting) skills of Irfan Pathan and Noel David.

All-Rounders

With the addition of Noel David and Yusuf Pathan, the all-rounder’s department in this team looks well covered. Also by covering Yuvraj Singh’s spin bowling alongside Irfan Pathan’s eventful batting, the Indian Legends have an exquisite luxury of doing the experimentation both in the bowling department and in their lower-middle order batting department. While the likes of Yusuf Pathan, Noel David and Yuvraj Singh can fill in the quota of the fifth bowler. On the other hand, Irfan Pathan’s and to some extent Manpreet Gony’s eruptive blows can be used as a floater in the batting order.

Bowlers

Just like the all-rounders, the bowling department is versatile as well. With four front-line seamers in their squad, two of them (Vinay Kumar & Irfan Pathan) do offer quality seam bowling. Alongside these two veterans, there’s also the accuracy of Munaf Patel followed by some wicket-taking abilities of Manpreet Gony. In the spin department, Pragyan Ojha’s left-arm orthodox spin does make him a starter in the playing XI and to accompany him there is also the off-break option of Noel David.

Wicketkeeper

With the recent retirement of Naman Ojha from domestic cricket, the wicket-keeper batsman has now been drafted in to replace Sameer Dighe who was originally part of the team before the pandemic. Alongside his glovework, he is also a handy batsman who can bat anywhere in the top seven.

All in all, with already being the table-toppers by winning two in two against the Sri Lankan Legends and West Indies Legends, the home team will be hot favourites to grab the inaugural glory.
