Riyan Parag posts a heartfelt note for Kumar Sangakkara
The Indian Premier League has time and again proved to be a massive learning curve for the young Indian cricketers. With the involvement of retired foreign cricketers in the league, the prospect to become an ever-improving cricketer has become easy for the Indian players. Even this year, we witnessed several young cricketers coming up during the course of the season.
As the IPL 2021 was suspended indefinitely, all the players will be returning to their homes with a lot of experiences that they can cherish as they look to improve their cricketing journey. One such cricketer is Riyan Parag, the young all-rounder from Assam, who featured for the Rajasthan Royals franchise in the IPL this year.
As he returns home, he had some praise for the former Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara, who is the Director of Cricket of the Rajasthan Royals team. The young player stated that he had a lot of fun with the legend and has learned a lot. During the campaign of 2021, Parag played all the matches for Rajasthan Royals.
I learned things I didn’t know about me: Riyan Parag

As the season got interrupted in the middle, Rajasthan Royals had played seven matches, winning three and losing four. Parag, who bats at no. 5 and no. 6, scored some runs with whatever little opportunity he got. In this season, we also saw the youngster contributing to the field quite well.
His direct hit to get Rishabh Pant out was a crucial turning point during the Royals’ win against Delhi. Apart from that, he took a total of six catches in the tournament, He also picked up a wicket with the ball and managed 78 runs at a strike rate of 144. As the IPL ends untimely with uncertainty over its resumption, players like Parag will have to wait for the domestic season to begin for them to get on the field again. With that being far away from the sight, we might not see the young Indian players in the action for some time.
