Reports: RCB likely to rope in Wanindu Hasaranga as replacement for Adam Zampa
The Indian Premier League is a tournament that probably every player around the globe aims to be a part of. The biggest cricketing festival of India is always in search of players who can make an impact on the tournament. It is a no-brainer that the level of competition that this league unfolds, helps the cricketers to arm their talents better.
One name that has recently turned many heads by his performances is that of Wanindu Hasaranga. There have been talks on the inclusion of the all-rounder in the IPL after his impressive form in the recently concluded India-Sri Lanka series.
The second phase of the IPL 2021 is all set to be played in the UAE and the franchises are aiming for some replacements. There were discussions on certain franchises being interested in getting the services of Wanindu Hasaranga. However, it is now learned that RCB has approached the BCCI to consider the Sri Lanka all-rounder as a replacement of Adam Zampa for the remainder of the IPL 2021 as reported by the ABP Live.
The Australian leg-spinner Adam Zampa, who was part of the RCB team, had pulled out of the IPL 2021 midway citing personal reasons. However, the team did not have to deal with any blow due to this as they have had a splendid first phase of the IPL. Virat Kohli and company have won five matches out of the seven they have played and looked to dominate in the tournament till the time of suspension.
Wanindu Hasaranga has emerged as a player to look out for
The Sri Lankan team was brought under the scanner for their disappointing performances against England. They lost the ODI series to India but were able to secure a T20I series win against India recently. For the side, Wanindu Hasaranga has been a pivotal cog in the team’s wheel.
Hasaranga has a good T20 record ever since he has made his debut against New Zealand in 2019. The leg-spinner, who possesses the ability to put a good show with the willow as well, has come into the radar now in context to IPL. If he makes it to the RCB side, he can pretty much make it count alongside the services of Yuzvendra Chahal.
