Reports: Rahul Dravid’s health issues put his availability in doubt for 3rd ODI
Team India head coach Rahul Dravid has returned to his hometown Bengaluru due to a health issue and will not be with the team for the third and final One-Day International (ODI) against Sri Lanka at the Greenfield Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday, January 15.
Dravid suffered a health issue during the second One Day International between India and Sri Lanka, according to a report in RevSportz. However, the Indian great stayed with the national team before moving to Bengaluru on Friday morning.
It is understood that Dravid felt uneasiness in the team hotel and took medicines after his blood-pressure had shot up. Incidentally, the batting great had recently celebrated his 50th birthday with the national team in Kolkata on Tuesday, January 11, ahead of the second ODI.
The situation has put the Team India head coach’s availability for the third ODI at the Greenfield Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram on January 15, Sunday, on doubt.
Notably, the India and Sri Lanka players as well as the support staff did not have much recovery time as they had already played the first game a day before.
Team India eye clean sweep over Sri Lanka
Meanwhile, Team India took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the ODI series as they came out on top by four wickets in the second game at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
Premier India batter KL Rahul, who was struggling for form, made a strong statement in the contest with an unbeaten 64 and took the hosts past the finish line in the 44th over.
However, left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav who was adjudged the Player of the Match in the last game for his match-winning three-wicket haul would once again be hoping to bamboozle the visitors. Kuldeep had replaced Yuzvendra Chahal who was ruled out due to issues on his right shoulder.
At the same time, it also remains to be seen whether Chahal will be fit to take the field in the third game.
India and Sri Lanka will now be hoping to complete the formalities by playing an outstanding brand of cricket in this game. While the hosts would be eager to register a cleansweep, the Lankans would be looking forward to salvaging pride in the dead rubber.
