Reports: Pant doubtful for Australia series, IPL 2023
Premier India wicket keeper-batter Rishabh Pant remains doubtful for Australia series and IPL 2023 after his horrific accident on Friday, according to a report in the Times of India. Pant is admitted at Max Hospital in Dehradun and undergoing treatment for the multiple injuries that he suffered. The wicketkeeper-batter was driving the car by himself. Unfortunately, he dozed off at the wheel at around 5:30 am (IST) which led to the accident.
Pant was later rescued and taken to a nearby hospital in Roorkee for primary treatment. Then, he was shifted to Max hospital. As per a medical report shared by the Board of Control for Cricket in India, the cricketer ‘has suffered two cuts on his forehead, a ligament tear in his right knee, and injuries on his right wrist, ankle, toe and back’. The medical team of the board is currently monitoring Pant’s progress. The team will take the necessary measures to help him recover well.
In the meantime, Dr Qamar Azam, who looks after the sports injury department at AIIMS Rishikesh said that the cricketer would miss at least three to six months of cricket after the incident. Which brings to the conclusion, that the cricketer is definitely going to miss the all-important Test series against Australia and is likely to miss the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League.
“Pant will take at least three to six months to recover from the ligament injury. And if it’s severe, he may take more time. Further evaluation can be based on his detailed injury report,” Dr Azam told the TOI.

As per a report, Pant is likely to be shifted to Delhi or Mumbai for further treatment. He is in stable condition but needs long-term treatment to gain full fitness. Pant’s coach Devendra Sharma is closely monitoring the situation and explained the same to Pant’s family.
