Reports: CSK all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja likely to be ruled out of IPL 2022 due to injury
The defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) star player Ravindra Jadeja is set to be ruled out of the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. It may be noted that the left-handed batter recently stepped down from the captaincy post of the Yellow Army and veteran MS Dhoni replaced him as a skipper.
The star all-rounder suffered an injury in the upper body while fielding against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) recently. Even though Jadeja continued fielding, he was consequently ruled out of the match against Delhi Capitals, which the defending champions won by a comfortable margin.
CSK camp assessed his injury for the past few days
The CSK camp assessed Jadeja‘s injury, but it has not gotten any better. It may be noted that the left-handed batter has a poor season. In 10 matches, he has only amassed 116 runs and scalped five wickets.
Talking about his numbers in IPL, the 33-year-old has played 210 matches and has scored a total of 2502 runs at a decent average of 26.62. He plays at a strike rate of 127.65 and has scored two half-centuries. With the ball, he has scalped a total of 132 wickets at an economy rate of 7.61.
Meanwhile, the defending champions CSK will take on Mumbai Indians (MI) at the iconic Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on May 12 (Thursday). The Yellow Army will next take on the Gujarat Titans (GT) at the same venueleague before playing their final league game against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai.
Even if the defending champions win their remaining matches, they can have only 14 points and their fate will be decided by other teams, particularly Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Rajasthan Royals (RR). The 15th edition of IPL is now reaching its business end and all the franchises will want to win their remaining matches to give themselves a strong chance to qualify for the playoffs.
