Record-breakers: Fastest to 4000 IPL runs

The Indian Premier League has featured several batters taking the tournament by storm with their stupendous performances. There have been numerous big names from the cricketing fraternity who have plundered runs in the tournament with ease. They have featured in the top run scorer’s list time and again. A total of 15 batters in IPL history have scored over 4,000 runs in the tournament. Faf du Plessis became the most recent entrant to the list. On that note, let’s take a look at the top three batters to have breached the 4,000-run mark fastest in IPL history.

3. David Warner (114 innings)

The Australian batter is one of the most consistent performers in the history of the competition. Warner has won the coveted Orange Cap thrice in his IPL career in 2015, 2017 and 2019 which is a record. The southpaw has reached the 4,000-run mark in 114 innings making him rank third on the list. Currently the third-highest run-scorer in tournament history, Warner has 6265 runs to his name at an average of 41.22.

2. Chris Gayle (112 innings)

Gayle is one of the legends to have ever played the T20 extravaganza. He gave a tough time to several bowlers with his batting exploits in the tournament. Gayle has most of the batting records of IPL to his name be it most sixes, most hundreds, winning Orange Cap in consecutive seasons etc. The West Indian batter is the second-fastest player to score 4,000 runs in the tournament. Gayle reached the landmark in 112 innings.

1. KL Rahul (105 innings)

Rahul is one of the most consistent performers in the IPL since 2018. The Indian opener scored over 500 runs consistently from the 2018-2022 seasons. During the ongoing season, the 31-year-old became the fastest batter to score 4,000 runs in the tournament He reached the milestone in just 105 innings. The LSG captain however could not continue his rich form as he got injured while fielding during Lucknow’s ninth game against RCB and got ruled out of the tournament.
