RCB’s latest signing Mohammed Azharuddeen affects a magical run-out in a local T20 tournament
Royal Challengers Bangalore’s latest signing Mohammed Azharuddeen affected a sensational run-out in a local T20 tournament in Kerala, KCA President’s Cup T20. Azharuddeen has been in the news ever since this year started. He had created a lot of buzz ahead of IPL 2021 auction after he scored a fantastic century in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy while playing for Kerala.
His knock of 137 runs which came off just 52 balls against Mumbai helped him get the attention of RCB ahead of the IPL 2021. He was picked up for his base price of INR 20 lakhs. He is currently leading the KCA Eagles team in the President’s Cup T20. During their match against KCA Tuskers, he inflicted a brilliant run out by diving acrobatically to get rid of the Sreenath K.
The video of the run-out got a lot of attention from the social media fans and would make the RCB team management quite happy, seeing his skills behind the stumps. During the innings of KCA Tuskers, the two batsmen tried their best to complete a quick single. At the time, the cover fielder, Rabin Krishnan threw the ball towards the stumps.
Mohammed Azharuddeen’s acrobatic stuff on the field
However, the throw was way in front of the stumps and would have gone somewhere else. But Mohammed Azharuddeen jumped in, almost cartwheeling to grab the ball from the air. As he was in the air, he used his left-hand smartly to dislodge the stumps and run out the batsman. He took the ball with both his hands and smartly used his left hand to reach the stumps quickly. It was a perfect exhibition of wicketkeeping genius if there was ever one.
The batsman was short of the crease easily and was given out by the umpire. Apart from this, Azharuddeen also scored 69 runs from 43 balls during his batting. His knock helped his team to reach 167. His multi-dimensional performance will be good news for the RCB fans, who desperately would hope for a championship title.
The franchise has struggled to find good Indian players performing regularly, which is why Mohammed Azharuddeen’s good form going into the IPL 2021, would make them hopeful for a turnaround this season. His ability to contribute with both the bat and behind the stumps will make a prime contender to end up in the first XI.
