Ravindra Jadeja lavishes massive praises on MS Dhoni after thrilling win against MI
An MS Dhoni masterclass was on display on Thursday (April 21) as Chennai Super Kings piped Mumbai Indians in what is being called the ‘El Clasico’ of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The game went right down to the wire and MI looked in command for the best part. However, Dhoni’s unbeaten 13-ball 28 took the defending champions to a three-wicket triumph. This also includes a last-ball boundary when four runs were required.
This defeat meant MI became the first team to lose their first seven games of an IPL season. At the same time, this was also a much-needed win for the Men in Yellow as they had just one win in six outings prior to this contest. Needless to mention, CSK skipper Ravindra Jadeja was a happy man at the end and he expressed the same after the match.
MS Dhoni is still here and doing the job for us: Ravindra Jadeja
The all-rounder admitted being tense in the crunch phase of the game and lauded Dhoni for his fireworks. “We were very tense the way game was going. But the great finisher of the game was still there, so we knew we had a chance. He’s still here and doing it for us,” said Jadeja in the post-match presentation.
The 33-year-old also lavished praises on young pacer Mukesh Choudhary for making the new ball talk and rattling MI’s top three. “He (Mukesh) has bowled well upfront and done well for us in the powerplay. If you aren’t winning games, you still want to be calm. (On him dropping catches) It happens, that’s why I never take fielding for granted and practise hard. We need to work on our fielding, can’t afford to drop catches,” added Jadeja.
Meanwhile, IPL 2022 is entering its latter stage and stakes will be incredibly high in the coming games. With MI losing seven on the trot, they are all but out of the playoff race. On the other hand, CSK have to win at least six of their remaining seven games to qualify for the next stage without any hassle.
