Ravi Shastri shares picture of his reunion with MS Dhoni
As India took on England in the final T20I of the series at Edgbaston, two of Indian cricket’s most enigmatic personalities were pictured together having a chat as MS Dhoni reunited with Ravi Shastri in Nottingham. The latter posted a picture of the duo celebrating their reunion during the match.
Dhoni, who celebrated his birthday earlier this week is on the English shores for a vacation. He celebrated his anniversary, followed by his 41st birthday in the country. The former Indian captain was also in attendance during India’s second T20I at Edgbaston, and BCCI had shared pictures of his interaction with young Indian batters in the Indian dressing room on social media. The former Indian cricketer was also pictured with Rishabh Pant, who was one of the attendees of his birthday bash.
Shastri and Dhoni first worked together in the former’s stint as the director of the Indian team in 2014. The 41-year-old led India in two ICC events, the 2015 World Cup and the 2016 T20 World Cup in their first stint. The duo then once again was part of the same dressing room when the former all-rounder took charge of the Indian team as head coach of the team in 2017.
The 60-year-old took to social media and posted a Tweet to celebrate their reunion in trademark style. His tweet had a picture of the duo and read, “Great to catch up with the maestro who looks in fine fettle @msdhoni.”
Ravi Shastri and MS Dhoni are enjoying life after ending their commitments to the Indian team
Both Dhoni and Shastri are no longer a part of the Indian setup as the former retired from international cricket in 2020, while the 1983 World Cup winner has reclaimed his position in the commentary box, and he is currently under contract to SKY after relinquishing the role of India’s head coach post the 2021 T20 World Cup.
The Ranchi-born cricketer is still plying his trade in the Indian Premier League and will once again lead the Chennai-based franchise, Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2023 after taking over the captaincy role from Ravindra Jadeja midway through IPL 2022.
