Ravi Shastri gets appointed as Commissioner of Legends League Cricket
Former India head coach Ravi Shastri is all set to ace his new role as the Commissioner of the Legends League Cricket (LLC). LLC happens to be a professional event wherein all the retired players around the world ply their trades and it is all set to begin the next year. The first season of LLC is on cards for January 2022 in the Gulf.
Shastri, whose stint with India ended after the team’s campaign in the T20 WC 2021, is all excited and happy about his new role. He stated that it feels great to be connected to the game and to meet all the stalwarts in LLC would be great fun. It has to be noted that Shastri’s stint with Team India turned out to be remarkable.
“It feels great to remain connected with cricket in the thick of the action, especially with the Legends of the game who have been champions in their own rights. It is going to be a lot of fun with some serious cricket going. These stalwarts have nothing new to prove but they have their reputation in line and I can assure you, it will be interesting to see how they do justice to it,” said Shastri as quoted by Cricwire.
I am extremely thrilled to be a part of LLC: Ravi Shastri
The 59-year-old was of the opinion that LLC is a unique initiative and that he is extremely thrilled to be part of it. The release has not yet specified Shastri’s role in the league, which will have cricketers from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Australia, and England.
Raman Raheja, co-founder, and CEO of LLC stated that they couldn’t have got a better person than Shastri to handle their affairs. He stands to be the legend of games around the world, not only in just India. Shastri guided the Indian team to innumerable bilateral victories across the world but an ICC Trophy eluded him.
“I am extremely thrilled to be a part of Legends League Cricket. This is a unique initiative and we see a very bright future ahead,” Shastri added.
