Ravi Bishnoi is a very talented guy, has got a bright future ahead: Rohit Sharma
India was up against West Indies in the opening T20I of the three-match series at Eden Garden and won the contest by six wickets to mark a great start. Young spinner Ravi Bishnoi marked his international debut for India and scripted absolutely magical figures while clinching two wickets in four overs, conceding only 17 runs.
In the same light, skipper Rohit Sharma lauded the youngster and talked about his special talent. He went on to say that Bishnoi can bowl at any stage and has a bright future ahead of him. The young leggie sent back Roston Chase and Roman Powell to make things easy for the hosts.
“Bishnoi is a very talented guy which is why we drafted him into the squad straight away. We see something different in him. He’s got a lot of variations and skill-set with him. He can bowl at any stage and it gives us a lot of options to rotate the other bowlers. Very happy with his first game for India and he’s got a bright future and it’s just about us now on how we use him,” said Rohit Sharma in the post-match presentation ceremony.
I have been talking to Ishan for a long time now: Rohit Sharma
Moving further, Rohit also went to back youngster Ishan Kishan who seemed to be struggling with the bat. While he accompanied the skipper well at the top, he took 42 deliveries to chip in 35 runs and got out at a crucial juncture, leaving the burden on the middle order. The senior batter added the team is trying to give him the confidence that he needs going forward.
“I have been talking to him for a long time now. When he was playing with Mumbai Indians in the middle order which wasn’t his natural position. We saw in Chennai (in IPL 2021) when the pitch was slow, he wasn’t able to get going, we just want to make sure that we give him that confidence with what he needs to do and look to find that odd boundary in the middle,” Sharma concluded.
