Rahul Dravid wants India to get better in terms of over-rate in Tests

Team India has been fined a point on the World Test Championship (WTC) points table as the side fell short of their required over-rate during the Centurion Test. They were one over short of the target and as per the ICC regulations, the teams lose one point for each over they are short.

India’s head coach Rahul Dravid thus opened up about the same in a pre-match press conference. He reckoned that it is an area where the team needs to get better. He also added that this isn’t a great concern in the home conditions but when it comes to the overseas tour they need to look at it.

Rules are the same for everyone: Rahul Dravid

“ICC is trying something and it is harsh but it gets us wanting to quicken the game up so I am fine with it. Rules are the same for everyone. It’s hard, we’re playing four-seamers. It’s an area we need to get better at. Disappointing to lose points. Would be disappointing to miss out because of that. Not a problem in India need to look at it overseas,” Dravid said in the pre-match press conference.

Meanwhile, India secured a dominating win over South Africa in the first Test match by 113 runs. KL Rahul starred with the bat for India hitting an impressive century in the first innings. The pacers then took the mantle to take command of the game. Mohammed Shami registered his five-wicket haul in South Africa’s first innings.

The fast bowling unit then also blew the trumpet of their repertoire in Proteas’ second innings as they wrapped up the hosts at 191 runs. KL Rahul had previously opened up on the team’s pacers. He heaped praises on them and stated that the team is lucky to have a fierce bowling attack. He also added that it is a challenge to face India’s pacers in the nets.

“Indian pace attack is difficult to play in nets, especially for me and they scare us a lot in nets – we are lucky to have this bowling attack,” KL Rahul said in the post-match press conference,” Rahul said in the post-match presentation.
