Prithvi Shaw answers fan on playing for India in future
Despite being ignored by the national selectors constantly, youngster Prithvi Shaw has not at all showed any signs of distraction and instead has been scoring consistently in the domestic tournaments. The ICC U19 2018 World Cup-winning skipper was in the news recently for his splendid 46-ball century against Assam in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2022.
Shaw’s whirlwind innings not only took Mumbai to a mammoth total of 230/3, but was also turned pivotal in setting up an impressive 61-run victory for the Ajinkya Rahane-led side as Assam could only manage 169 in reply.
However, lately, it seems that the emerging opener is tired of playing the the waiting game and has made it clear on his Instagram story that he has no idea when exactly he will be donning the India jersey again.
It so happened that during a recent Insta live session with the fans, one of the passionate fans had asked, “Next international match me selection kab tak hoga?” replying to which Shaw said, “Don’t know my friend”.
By this reply it can be assumed that the Mumbai cricketer is dejected and demoralized with his efforts going unnoticed on all occasions by the selection committee and he now seems to have given up hope on his India comeback
He is the sixth- highest run-getter in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, having amassed 285 runs from seven games at a strike rate of 191.27. While he was never in the scheme of things for the ongoing T20 World Cup in Australia, Shaw was not even given a chance in the three ODI series against South Africa at home earlier this month where India had fielded a second string squad. While the likes of Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan, Sanju Samson got chances, the 22-year-old was not given a look-in. It now remains to be seen when Shaw would be able to don the Indian blues next.
